AWS re:Invent is just a couple of months away, which means it’s time to start getting seriously excited. Re:Invent is the largest annual global gathering of the Amazon Web Services community and this year is set to top everything that has come before.
With more venues, more sessions and more attendees than ever before, AWS re:Invent 2016 is on an altogether different scale.
And what would a conference in Las Vegas be without some awesome after-hours events and activities? In this post, we take a look at the five after-hours events you simply cannot afford to miss.
The welcome reception is your first chance to take a look around the partner expo hall and really get a taste of the action. Here at AWS re:Invent Central, you’ll find hundreds of vendors showcasing the latest and greatest in partner solutions. This is also where you’ll find the AWS booth, the Partner Theater, the Developer Lounge and a range of other exciting activities.
In the space of just two hours, thousands of attendees pile through the doors of the welcome reception, and, with over 25,000 expected this year, it’s sure to be busier than ever before. Among the hustle and bustle, you’ll find live product demos, hands-on tutorials and expert advice from some of the world’s leading technology providers. And as if that’s not enough, there will be refreshments, entertainment and a whole host of awesome prizes and giveaways.
So grab yourself a beer, get talking and immerse yourself in the excitement of re:Invent Central.
With a jam-packed agenda full of keynotes, breakout sessions, bootcamps and certifications, your days at AWS re:Invent are likely to be pretty hectic. It’s important that you give yourself a break and stretch your legs a little.
What better way therefore to see the sights of Las Vegas – and stick to your fitness regime at the same time – than to join the re:Invent 5K?
The re:Invent 5K is a new addition this year’s schedule, taking place on Wednesday 30th November with a start time of 6am. There is a $35 registration fee, 100% of which will be donated to Girls Who Code, a non-profit organisation dedicated to closing the gender gap in technology.
Get your team together, lace up your running shoes and get your day off to a flyer.
After a long day of sessions, what better way to round it off than to kick back and relax with a cold beer in hand? What’s more, it’s on the house!
On the Wednesday evening, you can join AWS and its sponsors at some of the hottest bars and restaurants in the Venetian and Palazzo for free drinks and appetisers. With 19 different venues, this year’s pub crawl is bigger than ever.
The pub crawl runs from 5pm to 7pm on Wednesday 30th November, so get yourself down there early and grab a drink with fellow attendees and AWS sponsors.
Now in its third year, the Tatonka Challenge has become a legendary addition to the re:Invent after-hours schedule.
Taking place at Lagasse’s Stadium during Wednesday evening’s pub crawl, the Tatonka Challenge is a buffalo chicken wing marathon that pushes even the hardiest of competitive eaters.
After a busy day at re:Invent, you’ll have certainly built up an appetite, but do you have what it takes to conquer this challenge and compete for the ultimate prize?
What better way to top off a brilliant week at AWS re:Invent than with a massive party – and it’s safe to say that the guys over at AWS sure know how to throw one!
The re:Play party provides a thrilling climax to re:Invent, an outdoor party of epic proportions that features live music, entertainment, food, drink and much, much more. Last year’s party included drones, video games, mini golf, dodgeball and a sky diving simulator to name just a few of the impressive activities on offer.
Check out this video of last year’s re:Play party for a taste of what to expect.
