Here’s What Makes Matillion A “Best Place to Work”

After a year of explosive growth in both revenue and talent, we’re excited and honored to receive Built In’s Best Places to Work recognition for both Colorado and Seattle in 2020.

Being recognized as a great place to work means a lot to our team. We take pride in creating and maintaining an inclusive work environment. We foster a culture that retains employees by inspiring our teammates to be their best selves. Using our core values as guidance, our North American teams plan activities both in and out of the office, where we get to know one another better and create bonds that strengthen our team.

Team Green gives back

One of our core values is that we care about our people and our communities. In January 2019, we partnered with a local charity in Denver called Brent’s Place. Brent’s Place provides a long term home away from home for children with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses while they receive treatment at local hospitals. We participated in their Annual Block Party in July and volunteered at their Holiday Boutique in December. Our team came together during the holidays to sponsor meals for seven families at Brent’s Place, in addition to our various donations to the organization throughout the year.  

Every Matillioner has five paid days off each year to volunteer at charities in our community. Our team members spend their time working with organizations that help make a difference. Several people volunteer at A Precious Child, which provides clothes, footwear, coats, etc. and other goods for free to specifically identified and selected low-income families. We also made a $4,000 donation to Girls Who Code as part of our presence at AWS re:Invent 2019 to increase the number of women in computer science.

Work hard, play harder

Our focus on our customers’ and partners’ success is unmatched, and it shows in the work ethic of our team members. But we make sure to balance our hard work with opportunities to have fun and get to know each other, both professionally and personally. We hiked together in the scenic Golden Gate State Park, battled in a friendly departmental holiday cocktail competition and participated in other enjoyable events to foster fun and team-building.

When he visited Denver in August, our CEO  hosted a BBQ, where Denver Matillioners and their families spent a late summer afternoon together enjoying each other’s company and great views of downtown Denver.  

Next week, we are all headed to Manchester, UK, where every member of Team Green will spend time planning for 2020 – the first opportunity for many of us to meet our co-workers across the Atlantic.  

Growing the team

Our 2019 ambitions were big, and we needed the right people in the business to achieve them. We grew the entire Matillion team by 168 percent last year, and aim to continue this rapid growth throughout 2020. We are hiring across engineering, sales, product, alliances, finance, and more.
