We’re excited to introduce a powerful new addition to the Matillion experience: Ask Matillion, our time-saving AI-powered documentation assistant. Ask Matillion helps you find answers to your product questions faster – so you can spend less time searching, and more time building.

Whether you're getting started with the Data Productivity Cloud or working in Matillion ETL, Ask Matillion gives you accurate, instant answers, using the product information from docs.matillion.com. 

What is Ask Matillion?

Ask Matillion is a conversational widget now available on both the Data Productivity Cloud and Matillion ETL documentation sites. It provides real-time responses to your product questions – complete with links to helpful pages and examples.

Every time Ask Matillion answers a question, it saves minutes you might otherwise spend searching or reading through documentation. Those saved moments add up, giving you time back and more capacity to focus on delivering results.

Note: Ask Matillion is not the same as Maia, Matillion’s team of agentic virtual data engineers that help automate delivery inside the Data Productivity Cloud. While Maia supports data engineering tasks within the product, Ask Matillion helps you learn how to use Matillion’s solutions more effectively by answering your user questions.

How to Use Ask Matillion

To get started, visit one of the Matillion documentation sites:

• Data Productivity Cloud documentation
• Matillion ETL documentation

Each site has its own version of Ask Matillion – optimized for the product you're using. Click the toggle at the top of the docs homepage to switch between platforms. It’s important to make sure you’re toggled to the right page as:

• The Data Productivity Cloud Ask Matillion widget can’t answer ETL-specific questions.
• The Matillion ETL Ask Matillion widget can’t answer Data Productivity Cloud questions – although it can help with ETL-to-Data Productivity Cloud migration.

Once on the right site, simply click the Ask Matillion widget in the bottom-right corner. The Data Productivity Cloud and Matillion ETL widgets are different colors, to help you identify them:

Next, type your question, or click one of the suggested prompts to get started. You can ask follow-up questions, and the conversation will stay open until you close the page.

Tips for Getting the Best Results

To make the most of Ask Matillion:

• Choose the right docs homepage. Use the toggle to select the Data Productivity Cloud or Matillion ETL.
• Be specific. Clear, concise questions work best.
• Use keywords. They help Ask Matillion understand context.
• Follow up. If you don’t get what you need the first time, ask a follow-up to refine the answer.
• Stay relevant. Ask Matillion is trained only on Matillion documentation.
