Emerald Award 2022 Winner, Philip Morris International (PMI), wanted to create a Data Platform as a Service (DPaaS) framework to provide an open digital data platform – enabling power analytics for the enterprise as a whole as well as individual markets, and establishing a federated operating model. But it needed an ETL solution to onboard market data into the platform.

PMI developed a ready-to-use common ETL framework for almost 200 data engineers and can now automatically provision a range of services for each new market, ingesting data and ensuring correct storage, with full audibility and traceability. The team also established a community of practice for ETL – providing guidelines and tips and tricks.
