What is Matillion’s Object Tagging for Snowflake?
Snowflake Object Tagging is now integrated into Matillion ETL. Object tagging enables users to assign tags to various components, such as organizations, warehouses, databases, schemas, or tables. This allows for efficient metadata management and effective searching, classifying, and monitoring of data sets.
Setting a tag and then querying the tag enables the discovery of many database objects and columns containing sensitive information. Tags operate like parent/child directories: if a tag is added at the table level, the columns will also be searchable through that tag. 
Upon discovery, you can determine how best to make that data available, such as selective filtering using row access policies or masking policies to determine whether the data is tokenized, fully masked, partially masked, or unmasked. After defining and assigning tags to Snowflake objects, tags can be queried to track usage on the objects to facilitate data governance operations, such as tracking, auditing, and reporting.
